Samantha Baker is Senior Vice President and Chief Consumer Officer for UnitedHealthcare’s commercial business, which serves more than 26 million people enrolled in employer-sponsored and individual health plans. In this role, she is responsible for shaping the efforts around UnitedHealthcare’s commercial services, products and capabilities from the lens of the consumer and employer experiences, applying a disciplined focus on consumer and client satisfaction and driving improvements across the business using net promoter score (NPS) and other measures of success.
Samantha’s portfolio includes strategies around virtual care, digital experience, digital-enabled offerings that drive consumer engagement, incentives and consumer brand partnerships. In addition, Samantha and her team members work across various organizations to continue evolving the commercial market for the next era of performance, respond to and create market alternatives to advance consumer demand and evaluate market opportunities. She is known for her leadership in delivering practical innovation and meaningful results as well as operational and strategic execution.
Previously, Samantha was Vice President of the UnitedHealthcare of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota health plan, where she focused on building the distribution organization and launching the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) product with Fairview Health. She held various positions across the UnitedHealthcare organization since joining in 2010, including implementing the Affordable Care Act across the vision business and serving as chief of staff for UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits, including vision, dental, critical illness and financial protection offerings.
Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Samantha was part of a two-year financial leadership program with United Technologies, including roles at Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky Aircraft and Carrier.
Samantha graduated University of Hartford with a BA in Insurance and Finance and Loyola University of Maryland with an MBA. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two daughters.
